Shirley was born and raised in San Francisco. She attended the University of California Davis where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. After spending a few years working at a pet supply store and volunteering at various animal rescues, Shirley went back to school and got her Associate in Science Degree in Veterinary Technology At Foothill Community College. She obtained her license soon after graduation, making her a Registered Veterinary Technician. Like everyone and Linda Mar Veterinary Hospital, Shirley loves animals. However, Shirley has a particularly soft spot for guinea pigs. When she is not working at the hospital, Shirley can be found volunteering for Northstar Rescue or helping out at her school on small Animal Surgery Day, mentoring vet tech students while getting rats, guinea pigs and rabbits spayed or neutered to become more adopt-able. Shirley currently has a herd of old ladies, two female guinea pigs named Mocha Biance and Dr. Girlfriend as well as 1-2 foster guinea pigs. She is also owned by two cats, Lionel Ritchie and Charles M. Sparks.
